FKN feat. Jahala - Why?VANDIT066 - March 14th, 2007
Vandit 066 FKN feat. Jahala – Why is gonna be massive, a lively tune to fall in love with.
FKN stands for Frode Kambo Nilsen, a producer from Norway, which for the past 4 years have been a part of the duo "Vascotia". In 2004 the duo released the hit record "Calibro" on dutch label Somatic Sense Recordings. This record ended @ 1st place on "Dutch Dance Charts", "Tune of the month" in UK magazine Mixmag, was included on 9 different mixcompilations etc (including compilations mixed by Misja Helsloot, Alex M.O.R.P.H, DJ Jean etc), and it was also caned by most of the world`s trance gods. Two new releases came out in 2005 and 2006 (Verano and Apogee). The newest Vascotia-release called "Avalon" (Realmusic) was recently chosen as "Tune of the week" on Armin Van Buuren`s radio show "A State of trance".
Frode has also recently produced under another trance-guise called "Castania" and "Sheep Stranglers", which has received support by Armin Van Buuren (ASOT), Alex M.O.R.P.H, John O`callaghan and Kyau & Albert to name a few..
But the past months he has worked really hard evolving as a producer and focused on developing his own style. Working close with the very talented singer..composer Jahala (Jan Hallvard Larsen), he produced the current Vandit release "Why?" which is already tune of the week on Armin van Buuren`s Radioshow and Paul van Dyk`s Soundgarden on Radio Fritz.
The B-side includes the incredible Mix of Aly & Fila two outstanding producers from Egypt. Amr Fathalah (Aly) and Fadi Wassef Naguib (Fila), the Egyptian duo, were both born in 1981 and have known each other since kindergarten. After falling in love with the music of Paul van Dyk, Steve Helstrip and Chicane they built their first small studio and started doing electronic music and djing from 1999. After establishing themselves in Egypt they decided to go international. In 2002, they signed with the prominent German record label, Euphonic Records. Their first release, “Eye of Hours” received huge airplay from the likes of Paul Van Dyk, Armin Van Buuren, DJ Tiesto, and many others. After finishing their contract with Euphonic Records, Fila met with Andy Prinz and they decided to launch their first sublabel of Offshore Music. Upcoming Egyptian releases would follow. Their first release through Offshore Music Switzerland / AP Pro Audio ‘Spirit of Ka’ already made it on numerous playlists.
